Select The reason this is happening is that EDT Validates the batch within a Transaction. After the validation operation, the transaction is always rolled back. SQL Server does not reinstate Identity column values when rolling back. This is the correct behaviour and by design. Please let us know if this causes a problem for you, if you need your primary key values to be guaranteed sequential then an Identity column cannot be used as SQL server will always allocate batches of numbers to transactions that will not necessarily complete and may rollback. Select Hi Team, Identity column in SQL server table not populating correctly. I given 6 records in excel file ,it has generated numbers from 7. next time when I run it has generated numbers from 19 . i.e it is skipping those many records which are present in the sheet. I have defined identity column as below. [SNO] [smallint] IDENTITY (1,1) NOT NULL, Please look into this sairam male 3/16/2015 8:41:57 AM
